Nativity by
Josef Bachlechner - "Back to the
Roots"
Born in
Bruneck (South Tyrol) Josef
Bachlechner apprenticed as a
sculptor in St. Ulrich in the
Groeden valley. To improve his
skills and deepen his studies,
he afterwards moved to Rome
and Munich. Finally the master
settled in Hall in Tirol
(Austria) employing up to a
dozen carvers and painters.
Today he is considered the
most famous creator of
Tyrolean crib figures in the
entire Alps. This new edition
of his renowned nativity in
Linden wood is a bow to the
work of this great artist.
